Heikinpaiva Midwinter Festival is just days away (January 24th), and the City of Hancock is gearing up for our "Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture" designation and award ceremony during this year's festival. We need volunteers to help make our first celebration within our "Capital of Culture" year a success.
+++ Tuesday, January 20th, beginning at 9 am +++ We are in great need of volunteers to help stamp/pack/pank snow into large wood forms for our Annual Snow Sculpting Invitational on Quincy Green in downtown Hancock. Depending on how many volunteers we get, the job should only take two hours.

-- Helping vendors bring their wares into the Finnish American Heritage Center at 435 Quincy Street. Arrive on January 24th between 8:45 and 9 am. The TORI opens at 10 am (time: approximately 1 - 1.5 hours)
-- PARADE CANCELED ... but the Heikinpaiva characters will tour around Quincy Green area and local businesses on January 24th from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
--THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. The Polar Plunge is back on January 24th from 1 - 3 pm, and we need volunteers to help register "plungers" and assist others. Meet at the Boardwalk at 101 Navy Street (near TAKKA Saunas and Small Craft) (time: approximately 2 - 2.5 hours)
--Converting the Finnish American Heritage Center at 435 Quincy Street from TORI (markets) in the afternoon into a dance (Iltamat) for the evening. Volunteers arrive on January 24th at 3 pm to assist vendors in bringing their wares to their vehicles, folding/stacking tables, folding large tarps to protect the floors, and cleaning up for the dance. (time: approximately 1 - 1.5 hours)
