About

Monday-Friday from 8:00 am until around 11 am

Meals on Wheels serves homebound seniors, age 60 and over, who live in Jefferson County.  The program offers two types of home-delivered meals – hot meals delivered daily (Monday through Friday) and frozen meals delivered once weekly. Volunteers are needed daily to assist with preparing these meals.  If you are volunteering with a group or organization, please contact MOWVolunteer@uwca.org before registering for your dates.

Volunteers will generally be:
-Counting out beverages + sides
- Loading vehicles and assisting with basic tasks around the kitchen

-Washing dishes, sweeping floors, and cleaning the kitchen after meal prep is complete

Age Requirements for Minors serving in the Meals on Wheels Kitchen:

  • Minors 12-15 years of age may volunteer in the Meals on Wheels kitchen with a signed release from their parent/guardian and must be supervised by a parent/guardian, scout leader, teacher, or coach.
  • Minor 16-18 years of age may volunteer in the Meals on Wheels kitchen without supervision but must have a signed release from a parent/guardian.

Volunteers must complete the Volunteer Food Handler Certification before working in the kitchen. Please either print the food handler card and bring it with you or download it and email it to MOWVolunteer@uwca.org.  It is FREE of charge and only takes a few minutes. If you have any issues, this video can be watched at our office at the beginning of your shift.
