About the Event

CLASS ACTS EVENT

Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster uses hundreds of illustrated paper puppets, book pages, two-dimensional props, furry monster puppets, and songs to bring Mo Willems' books to life. Manual Cinema wanted to re-create the experience of holding one of Mo’s book pages, which are big, bold, colorful, and full of visual rhythm, with a playful use of scale. Like all Manual Cinema productions, you’re invited to watch the big screen like a traditional movie, or to watch the artists below as they create the story in real time. (There is no wrong way to watch the show!)

CONTENT GUIDANCE | As part of the Rozsa's Class Acts program, tickets are available by request for education groups serving Pre-K and/or K-12. Recommended for ages 3 and up. There are some loud sounds, flashing lights, and furry monster puppets in this show!

What do I do when volunteering at the Rozsa?

As a Volunteer Usher, you play a critical role in creating a joyful experience at arts events. Led by Rozsa staff, you and other Ushers work together to greet guests, admit folks into the theater, assist with seating and wayfinding, connect guests to venue accommodations, and support effective crowdflow and emergency procedures. Usher roles will be decided as a team at the beginning of the volunteer shift.

What do I wear and bring?

Wear clothes and shoes that you’re comfortable in! Please make sure they are free from stains and tears. The Rozsa will provide a purple ushering bib-style apron to be worn over your clothes. You are welcome to bring a water bottle, and we encourage you to leave valuables at home.

How do I prepare for the event?

No experience is needed. All the training you need will take place the day of the show, before guests arrive.

Parking and arrival

Please arrive at or before the shift start time, and check in with the Front of House Lead at the shift start time in the Lobby for a brief orientation. The Rozsa is accessible by car from Cliff Drive, a one-way road with entry on the west end of campus. There are several free (after 4 pm) parking lots available within a 10 minute walk of the Rozsa: Lots 5, 8, 14, and Temporary Lot 26. Please see the Rozsa's parking page for more information.

Join the Volunteer Squad

The Rozsa welcomes volunteers on an event-to-event basis and invites a deeper level of connection through the Volunteer Squad. Individuals and organizations can join our Volunteer Squad by committing to volunteering at 6 Rozsa events (individuals) or 25 event shifts (organizations) during the school year. As a Squad Member, you’ll receive recognition in our digital programs throughout the season, a personalized name tag, and a certificate of thanks and recognition of service achievement.
