SPAN is seeking Direct Client Volunteers to fill the following positions. (Direct Client Volunteer Positions requires 33-hour training).
Crisis Line Volunteers: Provide professional support to crisis line callers, shelter residents and our shelter staff. Responsibilities include answering the phone and email hotlines and supporting staff with office assistance when needed.
Court Advocates: Help clients obtain protection orders and provide support and information at the Boulder and Broomfield justice centers. They may accompany clients to court hearings or advocate on their behalf during interactions with judicial officials.
Children’s Volunteers: Interact with children in group or individual settings by creating a safe and friendly environment conducive to open feelings and expression. Volunteers also provide general staff support to children’s groups and assistance at our summer kids camp program in July.
*Direct client work requires a 1-year minimum commitment, participation in SPAN’s anti-violence training (February, June or October) and monthly volunteer meetings.
